Global Head of Software Engineering

Barco is looking for a Global Head of Software Engineering heading the software teams developing solutions for developing solutions for control rooms, for both large video walls and operator desks.
The Global Head of Software Engineering is member of the global management team of the business unit.

Your main accountabilities: 
 
Thought Leadership:
•    Co-create a vision for SW in Barco and translate this vision to our SW teams
•    Drive the continued change management in the teams across multiple sites to make it a world class SW center
•    Identify technology trends and competences that support the success of the business in our agile and digital way of working.
•    Collaborate with the ecosystem and players in the region to boost capabilities and leverage knowledge/practices/insights
•    Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives
•    Participate as a member of the senior management team in establishing governance processes to ensure that objectives are achieved

People Leadership:
•    Proactively drive team member development and inter-team dynamics to increase engagement, team efficiency & effectiveness

     and to enable long term employability
•    Stimulate an inspiring agile culture of trust and empowerment with a global mindset 
•    Act as a team and talent builder of several cross functional teams and with the involved businesses

Result Leadership
•    Ensure the ensure timely and qualitative delivery and performance of the different teams.
•    Align with product management as to the market and specific customer requirements to be followed.
•    Lead as a ‘content manager’ when needed to resolve site and inter-site issues.
•    Plan and implement objectives, or activities of BU/CoE/Practices in coordination with other engineering leaders to strengthen the vision,

     to maximize returns on investment and/or to increase productivity.
•    Develop and track the annual operating and team budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations.

Your profile:

•    Master in Engineering

•    Proven track record in people management of international software development teams
•    Experience in the following technical environments

• Embedded and on-premise deployed front-end/back-end software development
• Cybersecurity frameworks
• Cloud technology
• Data engineering/data processing
• User centric design methods (eg. design thinking)

•    Demonstrated change management experience
•    Ability to plan and execute operational and strategic activities
•    Ability to evolve within a rapidly changing environment.
•    Self-directed and responsive to customer expectations.
•    Possessing a unique blend of business and technical savvy, a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality
