Planning engineer

Purpose of the job

 

The jobholder is responsible for the planning of finished goods and related subassemblies, spares and peripherals for a product line to assure the OTIF delivery to customers (internal & external) while keeping the inventory levels in line with S&OP plan.

Define the required resource planning, both components and production capacity to be able realize the agreed plan. Together with Production manager is responsible to reach max efficiency and productivity.

The master planner evaluates and selects the best planning concept to optimize existing and new planning processes in line with business requirements. He/she leads and implements improvements within (local) supply chains to match the best planning process with the changing business and Market requirements.

 

Main accountabilities

 

Planner:

  1. Defines the weekly production plan in line with the tactical (S&OP) plan, based on production capacity, component availability and Sales orders to be shipped

 

  1. Review / Replan the schedule according to incoming Sales orders and ensure the best match between customer required date and availability date.  
  2. Communicate and agree with Sales organisation about product availability during Weekly/Monthly Sales – Planning meeting.
  3. Prepare and lead the daily and weekly meeting with production to discuss and agree the production schedule
  4. Participate in Red alert meetings when quality issues occurs and be responsible of estimating impact on plan and steer towards the right prio’s
  5. Discuss weekly the component availability with Logistic buyer team, support LB’s towards OTIF supply to guarantee the production plan.
  6. Follow up on the plan realization by production and correct where necessary to meet the agreed sales schedule.
  7. Assist in WIP management and drive towards WIP reduction
  8. Use ERP system and internal supply chain knowledge for defining and safeguard the right master data parameters. Perform analytics to improve (internal) supply chains by means of the right parameter definitions
  9. Participate in improvement initiatives within operations 

 

Master planner:

  1. Analyse the strategic and tactical demand plan during the monthly S&OP and define the supply plan based on component supply chain and production capacity. Challenge the demand plan when necessary based on relevant data and define together with Supply chain the target inventory levels for finished products.
  2. Prepare and lead the monthly supply meeting with data analysis and input from relevant stakeholders to finalized the production plan
  3. Prepare and lead the Monthly and weekly Sales planning meeting and adapt plan accordingly
  4. Define and agree long term production plan for products supplied by or delivered from other WW Barco plants
  5. Support production by defining the required/available capacity levels according to the long term supply plan
  6. Lead New product introduction in operations and planning process by participating in NPI meetings.
  7. Participate (workstream lead or participants) in business projects where planning is involved.
  8. Be able to evaluate and select the best planning concept to optimize existing and new planning processes in line with business requirements.
  9. Initiate and lead improvement projects within operations for the “forecast to stock” or “order to cash” processes. Ensure processes are in line with business requirements.

With in-depth knowledge of Planning and related processes initiate improvements for more efficiency. Act as expert in ERP system and perform analytics to improve master data settings or process flows

 

Required education, experience and competencies

 

Planner:

Education:

  • University degree or equivalent by experience
  • APICS or similar

 

Experience:

  • Supply Chain knowledge
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP system,
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office package
  • Language : English is common language

Master Planner:

Education:

  • University degree or equivalent by experience
  • APICS or similar

 

Experience:

  • proven experience preferably in SCM processes or planning
  • Insights in the different Business processes
  • In depth knowledge of ERP/MRP system
  • Advanced knowledge MS package (MS excel) or a reporting tool
  • Language : English is common language
