Research Engineer - Medical image processing & streaming

We are searching for a colleague to join the healthcare Technology & Innovation Group of Barco. This group focuses on mid- to long-term innovations and helps shaping tomorrow’s healthcare solutions. You will join a high-tech and fast-paced team in which your contributions will truly matter. You will be working in an innovative environment where you have the possibility to influence the solution that will eventually end up in the clinics and with patients. We expect creativity and initiative, but you will receive the coaching and support where needed.



Key responsibilities



  • Design and implement network and image processing components for medical grade concept demonstrators based on the results of technology de-risking projects. Real-time and medical image quality are key focus points in this process. 
  • Keep track of and evaluate relevant state of the art video streaming and image processing technologies in function of different medical applications. Keep track of new trends and state of the art evolution in software development



We are looking for a Barco colleague who


  • Has a Master in Informatics or Computer Science (or equivalent through experience). Young graduates obtaining their degree this year are welcome to apply!
  • Has a deep understanding of video/image streaming and relevant networking technology. Experience with DPDK is welcomed. 
  • Has experience with real-time image processing on both CPU and GPU (CUDA, OpenCL, Vulkan...)
  • Understands and applies good software engineering practices (configuration management, code documentation, integration and unit testing...)
  • Is open-minded and flexible to learn new things & help your colleagues
  • Is a team player who likes to share ideas
