Software Development Engineer

Our Enterprise division is at the forefront of innovation in the context of Barco’s digital transformation. Specifically, the Connected Media group develops a state-of-the-art, professional cloud software platform to securely process and distribute real-time, high-end media from a large number of sources towards a multitude of visualization points. Real-life applications where this platform is being used are e.g. digital operating rooms in large hospitals, interactive classrooms in business schools and universities, large control rooms and crisis centers …  
 
We are a growing, international team of about 150 people located in Kortrijk (Belgium), Noida (India), Sunnyvale (CA, USA) and Karlsruhe (Germany).
To strengthen our Kortrijk R&D team we are looking for a SW Development Engineer.
 


As our SW Development Engineer you will
 

  • Be part of a team, responsible for developing, monitoring and improving the quality of the software 
  • Analyze the product requirements and translate them into specifications and architectural designs; 
  • Support the software development life cycle and Agile development methodologies, specifically Scrum with Continuous Integration; 
  • Develop back-end logic and modern user interfaces; 
  • Be responsible for one or more software components; 
  • Keep track of bugs and fix open issues; 
  • Provide proficient documentation for the developed software modules; 
  • Support the creation of realistic plans for the development efforts by estimating the necessary amount of work and time.

 


Your profile

 

 

  • Hold a bachelor or master’s degree in Informatics or Engineering (SW) 
  • Proven experience with OO analysis 
  • Proven experience in at least two of the following domains/tools: 
    • OpenGL/GStreamer 
    • Python 
    • Bash scripting 
    • Linux (Debian)
  • Are communicative and assertive when required; 
  • Are fully conversational in English. 
  • Like to take initiative, work in close collaboration with fellow developers and share your ideas and knowledge;
