Function

 

IT Patch and Vulnerability group engineer -  Linux

 

Role and Responsibilities: 

 

  • You will be part of  the 24/7 PVG (Patch and Vulnerability Group) that is responsible for ensuring the security of our IT systems, that works under guidance of the Security Office (Center of Excellence, CoE)
  • Global remediation of security vulnerabilities and security incidents in close collaboration with local service delivery IT staff and primary focus on Linux PC’s
  • Supporting R&D staff with Linux PC related issues
  • Pro-active patching and securing of IT systems, based on:
    • Linux recommendations and Patch releases
    • Reports from Vulnerability scanning
    • Alerts from 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) and tooling (EDR, SIEM, Firewalls, Anti-Virus, Intrusion detection, etc)
    • Inputs from the Security CoE
  • Re-Active remediation of security incidents on systems potentially infected with Malware, responding to ongoing incidents
    • You will be part of the team that responds 24/7 to security incidents coming from alerts and/or Security Operations Center (SOC)
  • Ensuring compliance of Linux PC’s towards Barco standards:
    • Disk encryption, Security SW installs, SW deployment tools installed, ...
  • Monitor, guide and report on worldwide security improvements
    • Server patching performed by other teams
    • End Of Life software upgrades (OS, PC softwares, etc)

 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

 

  • 3-5 years of experience as PVG engineer, or PC support engineer including Linux systems in a Multi-national company
  • You are passionate about security and improving the general security posture of Barco
  • You work organized and structured and are able to communicate results clearly
  • You are proactive, can work autonomously and have good problem-solving skills
  • Team player who is used to working in global teams and who is also able to work independently on assigned tasks/projects
  • Persistence in resolving issues with focus on details. In security every detail is important

 

 

Desired skills/Must have:

 

  • Understand the  IT security basics: Malware, Threats, Vulnerability
  • Knowledge of Linux Operating system
  • Linux patching methodologies and tools
  • Vulnerability scanning tools
  • Anti-Virus software
  • PC Firewalls
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken language

 

Skills Nice to Have:

 

  • Holder of security certifications like Security+, SSCP, GSEC, …”
  • Scripting knowledge
  • Knowledge of Server Operating system: Linux
  • Microsoft Operating systems: Mainly Windows10
  • Microsoft Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Multi-Factor Authentication, O365
  • Basic Networking skills
  • Corporate Firewall technology

 

Education

  • Bachelor degree in IT
  • University degree in IT (at least 4 year of formal education)
  • Engineering degree
