Presales Engineer

Barco is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Presales Engineer to join our APAC Control Rooms team.

This role is ideal for someone early in their technical pre-sales, systems engineering, AV, networking, or IT career who wants to develop expertise in mission-critical environments and modern software-defined control room architectures.

Working alongside experienced Solution Architects, Sales Managers, Product Specialists, and System Integrators, you will help design and position solutions based on the Barco Control Rooms portfolio, including CTRL, video wall technologies, and associated visualization and collaboration platforms.

This is a customer-facing role requiring a combination of technical aptitude, communication skills, and a passion for solving operational challenges.

 

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Architecture

  • Assist in designing control room solutions using Barco technologies and partner ecosystems.
  • Translate customer operational and technical requirements into solution architectures.
  • Create:
    • High-level architecture diagrams.
    • Signal flow diagrams.
    • Network topology diagrams.
    • Solution documentation.
  • Support system sizing, configuration, and bill-of-material generation.
  • Contribute to redundancy and high-availability designs for mission-critical environments.

 

Pre-Sales Support

  • Support customer discovery workshops and technical discussions.
  • Deliver technical presentations alongside sales and senior solution architects.
  • Participate in demonstrations and proof-of-concept activities.
  • Assist with technical responses for tenders, RFPs, and RFQs.
  • Help develop solution recommendations that align with customer business objectives.

 

Customer & Partner Engagement

  • Work closely with system integrators, consultants, distributors, and end users.
  • Provide technical guidance to partners during solution development.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer technical stakeholders.
  • Support technical enablement and training activities across the region.

 

Technology & Integration

  • Develop expertise in Barco CTRL and control room workflows.
  • Understand integration with:
    • Video Management Systems (VMS)
    • PSIM platforms
    • SCADA systems
    • Enterprise applications
  • Assist with migration strategies from legacy control room environments.
  • Support solution validation and interoperability testing.

 

Regional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with APAC sales teams on opportunities and strategic pursuits.
  • Work with global product management and engineering teams.
  • Share customer feedback and market intelligence to support business growth.
  • Support opportunities across mature and emerging APAC markets.

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Information Technology
    • Telecommunications
    • Computer Science
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronics Engineering
    • Or equivalent practical experience

 

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in:
    • Technical Pre-Sales
    • Systems Engineering
    • Network Engineering
    • AV/IT Integration
    • Technical Consulting
    • A related field

Recent graduates with strong technical aptitude and relevant internship experience may also be considered.

 

Technical Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
  • Basic knowledge of:
    • VLANs
    • Multicast and unicast traffic
    • Networked applications
  • Ability to understand and create technical diagrams
  • Familiarity with Windows-based systems and enterprise IT environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Desirable

  • AV-over-IP technologies
  • Video wall technologies
  • KVM solutions
  • Control room operations
  • Video Management Systems (VMS)
  • Virtualization technologies
  • Cybersecurity fundamentals
