Barco’s Production Engineering & Industrialization (PEI) team works on the design, development and implementation of flexible and lean processes, state of the art techniques and efficient tooling for our manufacturing environment. To strengthen our team, we are looking for an Industrialization & Test Engineer.
Barco Fredrikstad is a high-tech R&D department that designs and develops world leading compact, high-resolution projectors used for pilot, naval or ground simulated training, amusement rides and attractions, concerts and events or high-end home cinema, to name but a few. The Norwegian R&D facility is part of the larger Barco group, headquartered in Belgium, and is considered a Center of Excellence in its field.   
The Production Engineering & Industrialization (PEI) team is an important contributor into the R&D team, located in Norway, and the manufacturing team, located in Belgium. The team use “state-of-the-art” production processes and test solutions for newly developed high-tech products.
As an Industrialization & Test Engineer you will develop - in close cooperation with R&D - processes that meet the reliability, speed, quality and productivity requirements necessary to be a world leader in projection technology. In this way you will influence the future Barco production processes and thus achieve a competitive advantage for our production facilities.
  • In consultation with R&D and production, you develop production processes, test solutions and production tools for our products (PCBAs, sub-assemblies and assemblies).
  • You install the test solution process into production (internal / external).
  • You are responsible for the documentation and validation of developed processes and test solutions.
  • You guide the operators and repairers during the introduction phase of new products.
  • You continuously focus on improving production processes and training.
In this job you will develop a large network of contacts and be able to develop yourself on multiple levels – both on the professional side and on the human side. For instance, you will work closely with various disciplines within R&D, with the industrialization and NPI managers, the line supervisors and operators, and the teams will be both national and international. Hence, culture plays an important part. It’s a varied work environment. After all, your workplace is not only tied to an office environment in Norway, but also requires regular activity and hands-on work in the production facilities in Belgium, instructing, guiding and improving.

We are looking for a new Barco colleague with the following profile:

  • You have a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a technical subject field.
  • You have good knowledge of analogue and digital electronics.
  • You have knowledge of programming languages.
  • It is also a plus if you have some of the following knowledge:
    • Data communication and Linux platforms
    • Optics & visualization techniques
    • Use of measuring equipment
    • Test automation software
    • Lean 6 sigma
    • PLC programming (Siemens S7-1200/S7-1500 & TIA Portal)
    • Industrial communications based on PROFINET, IO-Link, OPC-UA and other industrial protocols
    • Motor drivers and motion systems, pneumatics and hydraulics
    • TCP/IP networking
    • EPLAN
