Thermal Development Engineer
At Barco Immersive Experiences (IX), our goal is to unlock the creative power of technology to deliver immersive experiences,
from Simulation to Projection Mapping, from Live Events to Themed Entertainment – enabled by Projection, Virtual Reality, and Image Processing.
Based in South-Eastern Norway, Barco Fredrikstad is a leading R&D site and Center of Excellence for high end simulation projectors.
We are looking to strengthen our team with a passionate Thermal Engineer who is motivated by pushing the limits of technology to design the best possible product.
In this role you will be actively involved in the full product development process – idea, concept, design and finished product.
Our products have a strong focus on integrating high efficiency cooling solutions, for optical and electronic components, into a compact and rigid mechanical design.
This is why thermal, mechanical and optical design is teamed up as one unit and you will be part of a multidisciplinary R&D site where also HW, SW and Design Validation Testing is represented, and collaboration is the key to our success.
Key responsibilities

Actively participate in the full product development process.

Design, simulate, test and optimize compact cooling solutions for LED, lasers, electronic components and boards using fans, heat pipes, liquid cooling and more - all to meet the needs of our high-performance products.

Review your designs in our multidisciplinary team.

Create detailed manufacturing documentation for your designs and parts.

Build prototypes and early development products to test and verify your design.

Follow and support the introduction of your designs in our production facilities.
Who are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Industry experience in product development and/or R&D projects.
- Detailed understanding of cooling technology such as fans, heat pipes, radiators, heatsinks, pumps and more.
- Experience with mechanical part design and production methods will be appreciated.
- Good skills in 3D CAD and flow simulation.
- Well organized and experienced in lab testing.
- Drive for development and innovation through a solution oriented, high-quality mindset.
- Great communication and collaboration skills together with good written and oral skills in Norwegian and English.
