Business Process Owner (New Product Introduction)

The Business Process Owner (BPO) is the global owner of all processes within Barco covered by his/her stream; New Product Introduction (NPI), including reporting and execution of his/her strategy. He stays on top of the latest tooling and process evolutions in his functional domain and uses this knowledge to map business requirements/problems to out of the box solutions. He’s also considered by the business as subject matter expert.
Key Responsibilities

  • You take overall global responsibility for the New Product Introduction processes in Barco, making sure that the solutions adequately support the needs and requirements of the business covering all divisions and regions taking Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) into account;
  • You identify key stakeholders and establish a governance process facilitating high level decisions and top-down/bottom-up communication
  • You take decisions in a lean mindset and are responsible to drive the change into the global organisation making sure that the process is globally respected and adhered to in the day-to-day business;
  • You assure global alignment on processes, tools, systems & reports to be used and coordinates and implements process improvements;
  • You define and create the required global (Business Intelligence - BI) reports, their distribution and provide global status feedback on regular basis to the business of his stream;
  • You make sure that budgets are foreseen in PP process;
  • You align with other Business Process Owners for cross domain processes and systems;
  • You are responsible for correct process improvement implementations from requirements/use case definition till testing and roll-out;
  • You make sure that key users and Report & Analysis (R&A) stewards are identified, adequately trained to fulfil their role and that they can execute the assigned activities;
  • You are specifically responsible for the SAP–Enterprise resource planning Central Component (SAP-ECC) Support modules and Net Present Value – Return On Investment (NPV-ROI) Portfolio Support: maintain evolutions, best practises, improvements, provide support & training to the users, investigate problems, find root cause & solutions and creates/maintains Business Intelligence reports for users and management. You give 1st or 2nd line support to the key users and the end user by means of training, education, documentation or direct assistance;
  • You are responsible for sponsoring and guiding the different New Product Introduction Working Groups (Mechanics, Software, Hardware, Firmware, Printed Circuit Boards, Cabling, Packaging);
  • You are responsible for the project management of funding programs which are linked to process and tools improvements in the BPO/NPI domain: contribute to the content of the funding programs, manage the execution, report the progress;
  • You manage all improvement actions from within the New Product introduction community (GreenTeam / RedTeam).


We are looking for a new colleague who


  • Has a Bachelor/Master’s degree in Engineering or ICT;
  • Has at least 10 years of relevant experience in an engineering domain (Electronics, Mechanics, Software) – preferably within an international matrix organization;
  • Is familiar with the engineering/logistic processes;
  • Has affinity with project management, budget tracking;
  • Has knowledge of SAP ERP or equivalent systems – and their functionalities;
  • Is tools and process savvy;
  • Is happy working on both a strategic and a more operational level;
  • Is a service oriented team-player, well organized and project and process minded;
  • Demonstrates strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills; being able to communicate bottom-up and top-down to a variety of audience (from VP to design engineers);
  • Is capable of building up a natural authority in his domain (persuasive);
  • Is able to work independently (self-enabler) and able to map processes to tool features.
