Innovation Project Manager

Context

 

The mission statement of Barco Healthcare’s innovation group is to explore and deliver new technological, clinical and business innovations that truly have an impact, not only for Barco Healthcare but also for healthcare professionals, patients and society.

The innovation group takes care of the entire innovation cycle: ideation and MVP definition, market evaluation and business case creation, R&D and clinical work for creation of proof of concepts and solutions, market and clinical / regulatory validation of the solutions, business model and business plan creation, up to commercial introduction and early pilot sales. The team consist of people with a variety of skills and experience. The mix between research and development profiles makes it possible to quickly and iteratively create proof of concepts and evaluate these with potential customers and stakeholders in real clinical and market conditions. Cornerstone of the innovation group is the balanced attention for both technical/clinical and business aspects.  Via strong and constant interaction with potential customers, stakeholders and patients, the usability aspects as well as business potential and appropriate business models and go-to-market are constantly evaluated and finetuned during all phases of innovation projects. 

 

 

Function

 

We are looking for a project manager with experience in medical device development to strengthen the team. You have enough high-level technological understanding of both hardware, software, mechanical and optical technology to overview projects. You are used to work in line with medical device regulations and quality management systems. You are capable of defining requirements and specifications of medical solutions (both at component and system level) as well as of coordinating validation activities and overviewing risk management. Experience with usability engineering, as well as with setting up and managing outsourced development, and putting in place quality control processes for outsourced components is a positive point. 

 

A first project you will work on, is a new collaborative project where Barco will be codeveloping a novel solution for total body skin cancer imaging, together with an international consortium consisting of hospitals, research partners and industrial partners. The solution will consist of a cutting-edge body scanner and accompanying computer-aided diagnostic tool to provide accurate, personalized early diagnosis of melanoma, thereby potentially saving lives and healthcare resources worldwide. For this project we are hiring a project manager to manage the contribution of Barco in the project and to interact with the other partners in the consortium.

As project manager, you will play a key role. Not only will you manage the contribution of Barco, but you will also be the main point of contact towards the international consortium. Moreover, you will have a unique opportunity to help shaping and steering innovation activities for Barco Healthcare.

Your Profile

 

  • Master in Informatics or Computer Science (or equivalent through experience). 
  • Experience with managing medical device development projects (risk management, usability engineering, testing and validation of medical devices)
  • Experience with ISO13485,  IEC62304 and working in the context of a QMS system
  • Basic understanding of hardware, optics and mechanics in addition to a good high-level software background
  • Likes to interact with internal and external stakeholders and bring people together 
  • Is open-minded and flexible to learn new things & help your colleagues
  • Is a team player who likes to share ideas
  • Fluent in English
