The function
Barco IX is looking for an Optical Engineer (location Kortrijk) to work on the next generation of projection solutions. You will be part of an international team based in Belgium and Norway. The optics in the projector you work on will enable our projectors to do their magic. From inspiring people at the Gent Light Festival, through bringing digital art to galleries and museums worldwide, to providing visuals at world’s leading concert stages, you will be able to see the results of your work in all kind of immersive environments.

Key Responsibilites
- Optical engineering designer in an inter-disciplinary team.
- Become skilled in the use of test equipment and projectors in order to steer the design of next generation products.
- Conduct engineering analyses and evaluations of projection systems.
- Lead the testing and development of optical designs.
- Provide thorough documentation of work performed.
- Assist the reliability and optical teams in solving field issues and mitigate identified risks.
- Build and maintain test set-ups and/or equipment.
Your profile
- Master’s degree or PhD in Optics, Physics or a related engineering field or equivalent job experience.
- A strong hands-on mentality combined with analytical skills
- Experience in evaluation and the design process of optical systems is a plus (Zemax).
- Knowledge of a scientific programming languages such as Phyton, Matlab or others is a plus.
- Proven ability to work well in a (project-) team environment.
- Good oral, written and presentation skills for interfacing with other engineers, stakeholders and/or suppliers.
- Self-starting and approachable, enthusiastic but practical in developing new technologies
- You are fluent in Dutch and English
