R&D Manager Barco Cinema - Optics & Electronics

We seek an enthusiastic R&D Manager to lead our Cinema R&D team of Optical and Electronic engineers. This role involves overseeing the design, development, and implementation of innovative R&D projects, requiring technical knowledge in optics and/or electronic. As a manager, you bring strong people skills and result-driven management expertise to the table. To empower our team and drive forward, we are hiring on a fixed-term contract for our headquarters in Kortrijk, Belgium.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex R&D projects in optics and electronics.
• Conduct advanced research and data analysis.
• Prepare and review technical documentation and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for project alignment.
• Facilitate project meetings and provide strategic insights.
• Perform testing and analysis to ensure quality and compliance.
• Mentor and support researchers and engineers.
• Drive process improvements for project efficiency.
• Maintain strong communication with stakeholders.
• Contribute to strategic planning within the R&D department.

Technical Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize optical systems using software like Zemax.
• Design and test microcontroller-based circuits.
• Implement image processing algorithms for product development.
• Conduct rigorous optical testing and validation.
• Analyze electronic circuit performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Integrate optical and electronic components into cohesive systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Execute detailed test plans to validate product performance and reliability.
• Guarantee product quality through systematic testing and quality assurance processes.

Qualifications

• Expert understanding of R&D principles and practices.
• Extensive management experience overseeing multiple project teams.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and drive innovation.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Significant freedom to make strategic decisions within guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
• 8-10 years of relevant R&D experience.
• Knowledge in optical design & testing, Zemax, etc.
• Knowledge in microcontroller technology, circuit design, image processing, etc.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Ability to coach and develop a team.
• Pragmatic and strategic thinking for product and process development.
• High emotional intelligence and self-driven leadership.
• Experience in performance management, talent development, and employee engagement.
