Research Engineer (HW & SW) – Barco Labs (ADX)

 

Barco Labs is the Corporate Research & Development unit within Barco and is a global organization reporting to the CTO. In Barco Labs, we explore a broad range of cutting-edge topics including Novel Projection Technologies, Next Generation Optical Displays, Computational Optics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics & Advanced Healthcare applications.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

In the Advanced Displays X (ADX) sub group within Barco Labs, we are looking for an “Research Engineer (HW & SW)" who will work on developing next generation visualization solutions for Barco. This role is based in the headquarters of Barco in Kortrijk (Belgium) and will join the ADX group and report to the Technology Director – Barco Labs (ADX sub group).

 

In this role you will:

  • Participate in the design of new hardware & software development for innovation projects within the scope of advanced visualization
  • Perform hands on prototyping of new hardware interfaces & display solutions (both in HW with necessary SW support)
  • Actively document research findings in internal databases, contribute invention disclosures and publications for journals/conferences
  • Collaborate with members of both ADX and other Barco Labs groups to develop, test, troubleshoot and finetune your work


Qualifications 

 

  • You have a Bachelor/Master/PhD in Electronics/Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Applied Physics/Optical Engineering disciplines
  • You have knowledge of high-speed electronics design principles and tools (such as VHDL)
  • You are familiar or have exposure to working with FPGAs &/ GPUS & Custom hardware for application specific solutions
  • You have sufficient mastery of software environments like C++, Python & Linux to use them in hardware product development

  • You have experience or high interest in rapid prototyping of new hardware products 
  • You are a self-driven, goals oriented and in general comfortable to work in a global organization & in a collaborative team environment
  • You are open to a limited amount of travel associated with this role (up to 20%)
  • You can communicate comfortably in English (Oral & Written)
