UX Design Lead

We are currently looking for an experienced UX Design Lead to take our UX team to the next level, by building lean UX processes, mentoring the design team, and nurturing a community of UX advocates in all departments.

 

 

Function

 

As our UX Design Lead, you own the Barco user experience vision and philosophy. You will lead a team shaping the user experience for product solutions across Barco.
We look for someone open-minded, who is passionate about exploring trends and sharing knowledge about new things in the field of design with the team.   
You are passionate about human behavior and interaction and want to optimize the experience along the full customer journey. You are curious and question everything!
You have the experience to drive design thinking workshops with the team and users to grasp their needs and help derive insights, ideas and concepts.  
Your ultimate goal is to transform the user experience from ‘good’ to ‘great’.

 


Key Responsibilities
 

  • As UX Design Lead you own the user experience vision and philosophy, and safeguard consistency in the broader context;
  • You manage and coach a global team of UX designers; 
  • You mentor and nurture a world class, geographically dispersed product design team to implement attractive designs;
  • You build empathy for the customers and engage with business to research user needs;
  • You understand product specifications and user psychology;
  • You come up with innovative approaches to solve user needs and improve usability;
  • You keep abreast of competitor products and industry trends.

 
 
We are looking for a new colleague who
 

  • Has excellent people management skills and demonstrates  experience in leading and/or coaching UX designers;
  • Has a proven track record in user centric design, systemic design, user research, user flows, wireframes, usability and design thinking;
  • Shows aptitude for convincing others (internally and externally) of the value of your ideas;
  • Has excellent communication and presentation skills in English;
  • Has knowledge of the appropriate UX tools, Sketch, Invision, XD, Adobe Suite, …;
  • Is flexible to travel (whenever it’s again allowed/possible).
