Software Test Engineer

Come join Barco’s Control Room Division and help shape the future of Barco CTRL! As a Software Engineer in Test, you’ll work in tandem with product and engineering teams to ensure that our software meets the highest standards of quality, reliability, performance, and compliance. This position is attached to the team within Barco CTRL that focuses primarily on the underlying "plumbing" of what makes CTRL actually work, the lower level guts of the system.

 

Key Responsibilities

You will...
  • Contribute to the quality assurance of our solution throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Design, implement, and execute test plans and test cases for new features and improvements.
  • Define, communicate, and drive testing strategies.
  • Produce code and other artifacts that test our solution in an automated fashion.
  • Be the voice of and advocate for our users when it comes to the expected quality of our solution.
  • Optimize test coverage and efficiency, transform manual to automation testing.
  • Influence the design of our solutions and features to enhance their testability.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure high-quality releases.
  • Collaborate with other members of the QA discipline across features of our solution.
  • Document QA activities and the resulting findings in esay to understand, and actionable reports for other parts of the organization.
We are looking someone who...
  • has 2-4 years of experience in software testing.
  • has experience with testing in the embedded world, specifically of software running on embedded Linux systems.
  • has proficiency with Linux and with programming languages such as Python, C, and Rust on Linux.
  • has experience with support processes, escalations, good practices and QA guidelines in this context.
  • has experience with or ambition to grow knowledge and implementation/deployment of automated test tools, including creation of automated test scripts.
  • is motivated to document all aspects of QA, the process and related activity.
  • is a team player and can steer the engineering team to further improve testability, test coverage, and overall quality.
  • has the necessary language skills: English (fluent), Dutch is a plus.
  • holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
