Hardware Design Engineer

We are looking for an experienced embedded system (x86 & ARM based platform) Hardware Design Engineer to help develop breakthrough solutions for Enterprise division.


In this position, you will manage all the hardware technical aspects of Enterprise product development with ODM partners and collaborate with a global team to develop products, responsible for a product from initial concept through retail launch and further sustainability.


As our Hardware Design Engineer, your responsibilities include but not limited to:


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide advice, oversight and supervision to the PC system level product design and validation process with ODM engineering team.
  • Ensure product requirements are developed and delivered that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Take the ownership of the technical project objectives: feature implementation, target costs, key milestones, quality of the products, SOW (Statement of Work) schedules, cost, quality, and others applicable.
  • Facilitate and assist ODM engineering team with resolutions for mechanical and electrical issues, and working with internal software team on any or all issues that occur during development.
  • Implement VE (Value Engineering) and EMC (EMI+MES) solutions in electronic circuit design of product development.
  • Understand product certification process including EMC, RF, Safety, ErP (Energy-Related Products) and Green compliance.


We are looking for a Barco employee who…
  • Has 5 to 8 years of experience in engineering management for embedded system and demonstrate the working knowledge of embedded system and board design architecture, electronics industry validation, qualification, and testing methods. 
  • Is able to utilize and work with ODM technical resources to debug and close system level issues.
  • Is proficient in both oral & written English with global collaboration.
  • Has strong communication skills and demonstration of ability/actual experience to work in a highly matrixed cross-functional organization.
  • Has experience in high speed bus development as USB2.0/3.1/, Fast/ Giga Ethernet, NIPI-CSI/DSI, eMMC, UFS, SDIO, SPI and NAND.
  • Has experience in multimedia interface development such as VGA, DVI, HDMI 1.4b/2.0b, DisplayPort 1.2/1.4, USB-C.  
  • Is able to formulate hardware specification and design directive with project manager and clarify input data from suppliers.
  • Is fluent in Cadence OrCAD capture tool.
  • Is fluent in Cadence Allegro Physical Viewer tool.
  • Is fluent in Mentor Graphics PCB Schematic Design and PCB Layout tool.
  • Is familiar with digital oscilloscope operation.
  • Has soldering capability for small package components as 0402 capacitor or 0201 resistor and jump-wire of coaxial cable soldering on HDI (High Density Interconnect) board design.
