Key Responsibilities:

  1. Handle daily customs activities, prepare all necessary certificates for the import and export of goods. Work with the key stakeholders, include but not limited to purchasing, supplier, customer, forwarder, broker to solve any customs & CIQ problems & ensure efficient, cost effective, compliant and timely customs clearance.
  2. Deliver customer oriented logistic solutions, to both external and internal customers.  Act as subject matter expert on China customs processes and regulations, serving the internal customers, within an international context (Europe/US/India). Barco’s primary internal customers on customs matters are: Global Operations/Procurement/Sales/ Supply Chain/Legal.
  3. Use the current favorable policy of China Customs and optimize the cost of import & export materials and equipment.
  4. Customs broker performance statistics and management.
  5. Validate and defend the appropriate customs codes for the products imported (and exported) into PRC, with the customs offices and international counterparts in Barco NV.
  6. Ensure compliance with government regulations and communication with all relevant government departments and build a good relationship with China Customs.
  7. Capture, maintain and disseminate sensitive information appropriately.
  8. Deal with bonded logbook and related customs issue, work with financial department to ensure smooth legal operations when business applies.
  9. Other tasks assigned by the team leader.

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, major in logistics management or related subject is a plus. 

Experience & Competencies: 

  • At least 5 years relevant experiences and proven track record in Customs matters in an engineering-oriented company, preferably in an international context.
  • Profound import & export knowledge, certified customs specialist is preferred, logbook management, familiar with customs clearance process.
  • Good cost analysis and forwarder & customs broker management ability.
  • Established relations with customs organizations.
  • Realize the importance of details and can see the bigger picture, can prioritize and develop solutions for issues.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government and Embassy.
  • Proficient in English and Mandarin both written and spoken.
  • High energy and self-confidence.
  • High degree of integrity and discretion.
  • Sound judgment and common sense.
  • Ability to work collegially with people of different backgrounds and perspectives in an international environment.
