The successful candidate will be responsible for the continued development of LED Image Processing products within the Sacramento-based LED Image Processing group of Barco. These products perform real time video and image processing for display on LED displays incorporating the Barco industry leading image processing technology. The products are part of highly visible systems in environments where quality is critical such as corporate events, boardrooms, television studios, House of Worship, and control rooms.  The candidate will take responsibility for the completion of designated software features and design suitable solutions to complex problems while working with an internationally distributed LED product group to create a complete LED system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and test/verify part of a system using best practices and with minimal supervision within the given constraints: time, cost, specification & quality targets
  • Research/find solutions to realize system requirements where often limited standardization and limited information exists
  • Collect, analyze, and generate information and documentation relevant for the implementation of the system
  • Cooperate and collaborate with an internationally distributed team of diverse expertise to realize a complete product
  • Provide information/support for necessary training classes, demonstrations, and customer issues.

We are looking for a new colleague who has

  • Ability to interpret instructions given in a variety of mediums and provide the same to other team members
  • Ability to solve practical problems and find solutions to complex scenarios where only limited information or other resources are available by applying logical reasoning, architectural patterns, and good design methodologies
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally including ability to obtain necessary travel documents
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Preferred 3+ years professional experience in designing, developing, and shipping high quality software applications
  • C++ software design and development with Object oriented principles utilizing c++ ecosystem (such as Boost, Qt, CMake)
  • Experience in TCP/IP, multithreaded programming
  • Scripting language (JavaScript / Python)
  • Experience with the following is a benefit:
    • Wireshark
    • Developing/debugging with ARM processor/microcontroller
    • Embedded linux (including driver development, debugging, profiling, optimization, bus protocols, buildroot, yocto, and uboot)
    • Knowledge of software engineering best practices (code review, continuous integration, source control, issue tracking, unit testing)
    • LED display technologies, Video/Image processing
    • Developing applications for macOS, iOS, Android
