Based in South-Eastern Norway, Barco Fredrikstad is a leading R&D site and Center of Excellence for high end simulation projectors.

 

We are looking to strengthen our team with a passionate Expert Engineer, Mechanics who is motivated by pushing the limits of technology to design the best possible product.

 

In this role you will be actively involved in the full product development process – idea, concept, design and finished product.

Our products have a strong focus on integrating optical and thermal design in a compact and rigid mechanical design.

This is why mechanical, optical and thermal design is teamed up as one unit and you will be part of a multidisciplinary R&D team where collaboration is the key to our success.
 

Key responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the full product development process.
  • Design, develop and optimize light metal alloy and plastic injection molded parts, opto-mechanical solutions, structural and aesthetic designs, sheet metal, machined parts and more - all to meet the needs of our high-performance products.
  • Review your designs in our multidisciplinary team.
  • Create detailed manufacturing documentation of your designs and parts.
  • Build prototypes and early development products to test and verify your design.
  • Follow and support introduction of your designs in our production facilities.

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Industry experience (5+ years) working with product development and/or R&D projects.
  • Great skills in 3D CAD and supporting programs where experience in Creo is preferred.
  • Detailed understanding of the manufacturing processes for various types of mechanical parts.
  • Experience with optomechanical, thermal and/or industrial design will be appreciated.
  • Drive for development and innovation through a solution oriented, high-quality mindset.
  • Great communication and collaboration skills together with good written and oral skills in Norwegian and English.
