FPGA Engineer – Immersive eXperience

Our Immersive Experiences R&D organization focusses on developing projection and image processing technology to make these immersive experiences come to life for our customers all over the world.
Function
We are looking for a FPGA Engineer to join our innovative R&D team for the Immersive eXperiences Business unit.
From inspiring people at the Gent Light Festival, through bringing digital art to galleries and museums worldwide, to providing visuals at world’s leading concert stages, your work will make it happen!
You will be responsible for designing the beating heart of our projectors. Your will deal with a variety of tasks, ranging from developing image processing functionality and control design processes for our digital projectors, over prototyping new products, to hardware design tasks (selecting the appropriate components, schematic entry, follow-up of board lay-out, ...) and complex VHDL design plus verification through lifetime maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement VHDL-based FPGA code for image processing pipelines and input signal handling.
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to integrate FPGA modules into larger systems.
- Optimize FPGA designs for performance, resource utilization, and power efficiency.
- Perform simulation, verification, and debugging of FPGA designs.
- Document design specifications and maintain version control.
Qualifications
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, or related field.
- Basic knowledge of FPGA development tools (e.g., AMD Vivado, Altera Quartus).
- Familiarity with VHDL programming.
- Familiarity with scripting language (e.g., Python, bash, ...)
- Understanding of digital signal processing and image processing concepts is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with AI tools is a plus.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
