As a Product Validation Engineer - EMC, you are part of our international R&D team. Our Barco products meet international safety, reliability, environmental, and EMC standards. To ensure this level of quality, you participate in EMC testing by simulating conditions under which Barco products might be exposed to electromagnetic disturbances. You ensure that our products do not pose any danger or interference to users or their environment.
Key responsibilities
- Follow up on EMC/EMI standards and interpret them for medical devices and IT equipment (e.g., projectors, Display walls, controllers).
- Perform EMC/EMI testing in accordance with international standards (e.g., CISPR, IEC, FCC).
- Create detailed qualification reports based on performed EMC/EMI tests.
- Support R&D during the early design phase by providing feedback and proposing design improvements for EMC compliance.
- Maintain EMC/EMI measurement equipment and ensure timely calibration.
- Collaborate with international teams across the organization.
- Define and execute test plans and procedures for pre-compliance and full-compliance EMC testing.
- Troubleshoot EMC issues using tools such as spectrum analyzers, near-field probes.
- Assist in root cause analysis and propose mitigation techniques (e.g., shielding, filtering, PCB layout changes).
- Liaise with external accredited labs for formal compliance testing and certification.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of EMC test methodologies and lab capabilities.
- Document and maintain EMC-related design guidelines and best practices.
Your profile
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
Experience: Ideally 2+ years of experience in EMC/EMI testing and familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., CISPR32, IEC 60601-1-2, EN 55032).
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in using EMC test equipment (e.g., LISNs, GTEM cells, spectrum analyzers).
- Familiarity with EMC simulation tools is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Proactive and communicative mindset.
- Languages: Good command of English, both written and spoken.
