The Barco Control Rooms business unit is making workflow and visualization solutions for the Control Room market since 1994 to help operators collect, visualize and share critical information for optimal mission-critical decision making.
Barco CTRL is our latest flagship software product. It is a simple, scalable and secure platform, that gives an operator full control over the information flow in an easy and intuitive way for faster and efficient decision making.
 

Key responsibilities

We are looking for a Research & Development Lead for an immediate start to reinforce our R&D department. This is a permanent full-time position based in our headquarters in Belgium, Kortrijk.
As R&D Lead, you will ensure the overall success of projects in R&D with a focus on software development in the media platform team (video processing). This position requires communication and technical skills to enable oversight of multiple, related projects and/or complex R&D programs, to achieve project goals and on-time delivery in alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
 
 
As R&D Lead in the media platform team of Barco Control Rooms you will be the people manager responsible to:
  • Lead by example and support the team in adapting to changes in technology, processes and organizational structure.
  • Coach, mentor, empower team members to reach their full potential through regular feedback, goal setting and career planning.
  • Represent the customer needs and ensure these are clearly and transparently communicated to the scrum teams during the different agile ceremonies.
  • Define, prioritize and maintain a healthy product backlog as primary tool for scrum team by collaborating with feature team product owners, product managers, UX, architects, scrum teams, security and service teams.
  • Maximise the value of the product from the available velocity of the development teams in a continuous and incremental way, ensuring continuous delivery of vertical slices of end-2-end feature value.
  • Define and guard non-functional requirements of the product backlog by collaborating with Architects and scrum teams.
  • Plan and execute program increments by collaborating with fellow Product Owners, and communicate clearly and proactively on progress, risk and impact of decisions and their trade-off.
 

Who are we looking for?

  • You talk technology. You are driven by digital and data management techniques to drive scientific progress.
  • Degree in computer science software engineering or other related education.
  • Track record of implementing software products.
  • Experienced people manager. Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills with ability to coach and develop a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, customer experience, product development, non-functional requirements, process improvements
  • Seasoned in working with Jira tool for product backlog management.
