Our R&D teams develop advanced video projection systems based on Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology and solid-state illumination sources, including lasers, LEDs, and phosphor-based systems. As part of our international engineering organization, you will collaborate with colleagues across Belgium and China to shape the next generation of professional projection solutions.
About the role
As a Senior Digital Hardware Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of advanced electronic platforms for our next-generation products. You will be responsible for the design, implementation and validation of complex digital hardware solutions, from concept through production release.
Working in a multidisciplinary environment, you will collaborate closely with system engineers, embedded software, mechanical and FPGA engineers to deliver innovative and reliable solutions that meet demanding performance, quality and cost requirements. You will take technical ownership of electronic designs and contribute to architectural decisions, technology selection and product roadmap activities.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop complex digital electronic circuits and multilayer PCBs.
- Define and implement high-speed interfaces such as DDR, Ethernet, USB, PCIe and related technologies.
- Perform signal integrity, power integrity and EMC-conscious design activities.
- Select electronic components with consideration for performance, availability, cost and lifecycle.
- Define hardware architectures together with system, FPGA and software teams.
- Support FPGA and microcontroller integration within larger electronic systems.
- Perform bring-up, debugging and validation of prototypes and product platforms.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues throughout development and production phases.
- Review designs and provide technical coaching to less experienced engineers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of hardware development methodologies and design practices.
Profile
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent through experience.
- Minimum 4 - 6 years of experience in electronic hardware development.
- Proven experience with complex digital hardware and PCB design.
- Experience bringing products from concept to industrialization.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary product development teams.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of digital electronics and high-speed hardware design.
- Experience with multilayer PCB development and design for manufacturing.
- Good understanding of signal integrity, power integrity and EMC principles.
- Experience with DDR memory interfaces and other high-speed communication technologies.
- Programming experience in Python, C, or C# for test automation and debugging.
- Solid debugging and laboratory skills.
- Experience in component selection and awareness of lifecycle and obsolescence challenges.
- Familiarity with Siemens Xpedition or equivalent.
Nice to Have
- Experience with FPGA development environments and VHDL.
- Experience with microcontrollers and related development tools.
- Knowledge of embedded software development.
- Familiarity with Silicon Expert or similar tools.
- Experience with optical, imaging or display-related systems.
- Experience in safety-critical or highly reliable electronic systems.
- Knowledge of manufacturing test and production support processes.
